A product developed by a 30 year experienced builder out of a need for builders to be able to form a concrete wall easily and quickly. After a lot of trial and error he ended up with the Spider Tie concrete wall forming system. The Spider Ties simply function like a 2×4 stud, providing a frame to screw your plywood to.

Spider Tie now offers trades men an easier way to construct a concrete wall. You no longer are at the mercy of your sub-contractors busy schedule. Since no expensive forms are required you can easily form these walls yourself. Less labor is required as well because the heaviest part of this system is a single sheet of plywood. The Spider Tie system is simple to explain. It creates a temporary frame work by which you simply fasten your plywood to using a recommended coarse thread screw. Very similar to fastening drywall to wooden studs. This framework also holds your rebar perfectly in place every time without having to use tie wire.

It’s commonly known that forming a concrete wall can be one of the most challenging forming projects associated with concrete construction. For this reason the industry as developed many different types of systems to meet this challenge. There are many excellent systems available, yet the ever greater challenge is to overcome the costs associated with the new technology. The Spider Tie concrete wall forming system has successfully met both the challenges; the difficulty of the process and cutting labor costs.
Spider Tie developed a very low tech way to do this. This new approach is called I.F.S.forming (Internal Form Supports). The Spider Ties function like “2×6” or “2×8” studs in the wall, providing a surface to attach the plywood to. Since Spider Ties are webbed, the concrete flows through them providing a solid monolithic concrete wall. The design of the Spider Tie is perfectly suited for the hydraulic pressures that exist during the pouring process of the concrete. Great consideration was given so as not to create any weakness in the wall afterward. A similar technology known as I.C.F. (Insulated Concrete forms) has been using a plastic tie process to hold its forms together for over 20 years with wonderful success.
